I explore the shared territory of sculpture and imaginary architecture. Projects range from installations to human-scale plywood objects. Through this diversity of scale, there runs a common thread: the interplay between rational geometric structures and the surreal.

These geometric fantasies originate with drawing then translate materially. I look for new ways to handle materials seeking to understand their inherent strengths and weaknesses. As a result, my building technique emphasizes both of these qualities in concert.

The series of folded, plywood ‘Remoters’ plays with the notion of communication and misinterpretation. These many-sided polyhedra recall antique phonograph horns squashed into ellipses then ‘broken’ and hinged into misfunctioning instruments. The drooping, white blobs discharged from the ends imply a materiality sound.

My inclination is to place the body as equal to the eye in dictating the rules of perception, the development of memory, and access into the psyche. By exploring the shift-potential of scale, materials, and kinetics; I am satisfying my desire to develop a new fluency in perception—one I have discovered others also find curious.
